Late last month, Urban Time announced the five winners of its search for new icons which represents the ideal youth for Urban Time.
The new women icons came from different universities and schools from Metro Manila. They were Miki Hahn from La Salle College International, Rachel Rustia and Stephanie Sol, both from University of Asia and the Pacific, Portia Silva of Ateneo De Manila University, and Anna Monica Villaverde from Trinity University of Asia.
“Urban Time's Brand Ambassadors ... besides being beautiful and smart, ... have a passion for life, excellence, and making a difference in everything they do”, says Linfred Yap, Marketing Manager for Urban Time.
Online voting at www.urbantime.com started two months ago until March 22, of which each school's respective organization coordinated with Urban Time to facilitate the voting on campus. The judges of the competition were fashion and lifestyle blogger AJ Matela, fashion stylist Rachelle So, and Urban Time’s Marketing Manager, Linfred Yap.
Here are the new women icon's brief profiles:
Portia Silva (ADMU)
A 19-year-old Communications Major at the Ateneo De Manila University, Portia has never wasted a bit of time going for her goals—she has been a consistent dean’s lister and has been awarded “Model Atenean” in 2008.
She has been active both inside and outside school—a UAAP courtside reporter in 2008 and a host for numerous events, including “Helix 2009: Lights Out” in Fiamma, and “I Am Ninoy Symposium on Heroism” in Ateneo. She has published articles for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Sunday Inquirer Magazine, Candy Magazine, and Bounce Magazine.
Rachel Rustia (UA&P)
One of Racehl's interest is being able to help those in need. And indeed, despite her busy schedule, she still found time to be involved in countless charity and community work, including Make-a-Wish Foundation and Tulong Sa Kapwa Kapatid, a non-government agency aiming to educate children in Payatas.
She is also keenly involved in school activities as an Industrial Economics major. She was President of their Student Executive Board in 2008 and was part of UA&P’s student-based theater Dulaang Rock Opera Company.
Miki Hahn (La Salle International)
Miki simply loves singing and she has done this since she discovered her voice. At 18 years old, Miki already has a debut album, “That Vibe”, with Viva Records and has had several event performances, including those at the Baga Berde, Peninsula Hotel, and the Shangri-La Mall.
With focus in pop and RnB music, she received training from coaches of the UP College of Music, Ryan Cayabyab School of Music, and Myrna Cruz/Annie Quintos of the Company.
At present, she is finishing Fashion Design at the La Salle International and is involved in helping cancer patients at the Philippine Children’s Hospital. Moreover, she plays a regular kontrabida role in the local channel TV5’s show 'Lipgloss'.
Anna Monica Villaverde (TUA)
Anna Monica “Nice” Villaverde is one of the few students who are able to outstandingly balance both academics and extra-curricular activities.
While being a nursing student, Nice has gotten her hands on pretty much every school activity there is. She is also part of a number of school organizations including the Students Legislative Assembly, Debate Society, and the Student Nurses Association.
She was also crowned as Ms. Nursing and Ms. Trinity University of Asia in the past year and has modeled for the ads of Candy Magazine, Haagen-Dazs, Globe, Coke, Microsoft, Castrol, Stone Works, and MCX Motorcycle, among others.
STEPHANIE SOL (UA&P)
Last ut not the least, Stephanie has won various beauty contests including Miss Teen Philippines (2004) and “The Face of Ponds: The Most Beautiful Face in Mindanao” (2005).
She is also involved in many socio-civic organizations that are geared towards saving the environment. Currently, she is a member of the Youth Empowerment to Save the Environment and the ASEAN Youth for the Environment. And just recently, she has been awarded the Dept. of Environment & Natural Resources’ (DENR) Youth Environmental Advocacy Award and for her notable environmental initiatives and was appointed as the spokesperson for Region 10's DENR.
And that is Urban Time's new women icons.
