Thank you all for supporting Digital Manila in its first 365 days of existence. From the current mix-magazine type of blog, expect a big change at the end of the third quarter of 2010.
If 2008 significantly started the year of blogger events, 2009 witnessed a deluge! It's clearly visible with the number of posts here in Digital Manila how the blogging community have emerged and developed.
And I think, in 2010, the blogosphere will be similarly crowded, if not more.
It will be a big change where Digital Manila will transform to having it's own specific niche while a number of affiliate blogs will be born at the same time to catch the other niches to be left by Digital Manila. All of them will belong to one umbrella of united network of blogs.
Think Digital Manila in a wider scope - all this in 10-10-10 (October 10, 2010).
Manila, get ready!

The new Friendster has finally revealed its new look and user interface in advance to the online community via a soft launch last night at Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, Philippines
Friendster.com perhaps chose the Philippines for being the recognized new social networking capital of the world.
The Green DayRolling out mid-day of Decemeber 4, 2009 (GMT +8) worldwide, the new Friendster.com mainly takes on a green and white color theme in contrast to its closest rival's blue and white theme. The Friendster logo with a tilted regular smiley face also gets a rehash into something more flowing. The whole word 'friendster' is also now part of the official logo printed in script-like font
The new Friendster promises more games and interaction as it introduces new features around the concept of 'fun' and 'simplicity'. It also intends to focus and leverage on it's local advantage in terms of knowledge, exposure, and content.
Moreover, it is retaining one of its key features which initially brought Friendster.com in cyberspace's spotlight with it's customizable profile page. In fact, if you are not so much of a 'green' person, you can change the color scheme into blue or customize it to another color.
Friendster Wallet
Furthermore, the new Frienster.com website introduces the concept of Friendster Wallet with Friendster Coins and Friendster Chips. We'll have a separate blog entry discussing these in details. But for now, think of it as your online money with which you could purchase more advanced gaming weapons in addition to the free basic ones. You could also reload the wallet with a pre-paid reloading card.
Here are some photos of how the New Friendster looks like:Ben Dunn, VP Philippines and Global Head of Brand Experirence, led the New Friendster layout and user interface presentation. Watch out for the release of our podcast interview with Ben Dunn as he answers the questions shot by the Pinoy Popcast group. Carlo Ople and Homer Nievera were also part of the Freindster Philippines team present.
Check out the new Friendster look as it goes green on December 4, 2009.

It's double the fun this Christmas season with Samsung's recently released 2View models.
I got the chance to visit their booth last week in SM Mall of Asia and got to take a closer look at the ST550 & ST500 models. At a handy size, it has a shouting 12.2 mega pixels.I actually saw the Samsung 2View ST550 already last month in Singapore when fellow blogger Noemi Dado was carrying one in our Singapore trip for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards. She was taking photos and videos with it.
It was fun seeing yourself in the frame even if you are the one being shot. I guess it's quite unique with its 2 wide LCD panels, one in front and one at the back. It's front LCD helps you do the trick as you can easily frame and angle yourself in the photo.
The back LCD is for the photographer while the one in front is for self-shooting ideal for couples and children. It's two-tone matt and shiny body also makes it look extra hip.
Another interesting feature is the autoshoot-smile. Upon smiling, the gadget detects your smile and automatically takes the shot without you pressing any button. That's why Noemi kept saying 'smile' even without doing anything (pressing button). It's also ideal for taking photos of children with the Child Mode which creates fun, engaging animation that attracts children’s attention and provokes them to make special expressions. :)
Other features include gesture UI, 'Tap and Take', and Smart Auto.
Click here for more photos of the SM MOA Booth. The Samsung 2View ST500 and ST550 is available at all photo shops nationwide retailing at Php21,990 and Php 16,990 respectively.
Aside from the price, the only difference between the two models is the screen size and resolution with ST500 having 3.0" wide LCD and 230K resolution while ST 550 has 3.5" wide LCD at 1152K resolution.

Sadly, the World Pyro Olympics 2009 has been canceled and is rescheduled for January 2010. This was after the weather did not cooperate with last weekend's fireworks display.
The two shows from Germany and China met some rainy weather at the Fort Bonifacio grounds causing it to be delayed. Albeit the show went on a little bit later, the fireworks was still spectacular. It might have been better though if there were less clouds.“Due to safety considerations in the firing site, the WPO executive committee decided to reschedule [it]...in January next year,” says Arriane Dizon, World Wide Womb for WPO Marketing Assistant.
Four more shows are supposedly scheduled for the next 4 weeks."The incessant rains...have rendered the firing area almost unfit for pyrotechnics launching which have certain standards to observe. The participating countries have thus greed to postpone the event."
Ticket holders with inquiries can call their hotlines 568-6908 and 384-0239 or check out their website (quote source) here. Stay tuned for the final schedule of the World Pyro Olympics 2009.
